Summary: PACS QC Workflow Analyst shall be responsible for day-to-day onsite radiological imaging workflow and training needs of the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA enterprise PACS.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Suggest, create, and maintain Radiological PACS workflow documentation.
- Create and develop quality control reports and documentation.
- Assist in creating and maintaining the PACS clinical and diagnostic staff training material.
- Deliver PACS training sessions to clinical, radiological, and hospital staff at NMCP and all associated branch clinics/spokes.
- Train radiologic technologist students in the proper techniques and acquisition of radiographic studies.
- Review and evaluate digital images for proper positioning, technical quality, correct protocol, and patient identification and verify technologist markers are identified.
- Make recommendations to the PACS Administrator and Diagnostic Medical Physics on correcting deficiencies and suggest alternate processing algorithms and positioning deviations to complete patient order.
- Provide direct input to the Quality Control Technicians and Quality Control Supervisors in identifying and documenting all deficiencies in the imaging acquisition process. Disseminate information to the Radiology Department Head, Division Heads, Diagnostic Medical Physicist, and PACS Administrator.
- Assist in resolving patient study anomalies and verify that the correct order was placed on acquired images.
- Use the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth's Hospital Information System (HIS) consisting of the MHS Genesis to correct patient exams and/order deficiencies and errors.
- Assist the Radiology staff in setting up and evaluating desired hanging protocols.
- Create and monitor PACS worklist and exam workflow though put.
- Provide training in Quality Control Processes for all technologists and students as required by the Radiology Department and familiarization training for staff and resident radiologists in image quality control and quality assurance.
- Use the Radiology Information System (RIS) to correct deficiencies and errors in patient exams and/orders.
- Provide administrative support uploading and transferring images into the PACS.
- Perform minimum scanning and printing functions to support the importing of outside patient exams into the PACS.
- Provide tele-radiology support including transferring image studies to designated facilities and receiving image studies from designated facilities, ensuring that they are appropriately stored in PACS for later use. Understand and comply with all necessary safety procedures and regulations.
- Provide statistical data on exams and end-users as requested.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in-writing with clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with teammates.
- Polite, service-oriented attitude with focus on client satisfaction.
- Use of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Be on-call on limited weekends and overnights for system issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a program for radiologic technologists accredited by either the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) or a certificate of completion from an American Medical Association (AMA)- approved training program for Diagnostic Radiologic Technologies is required.
- Current certification as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
- Must have experience working in a medium or large radiology department using a PACS.
- A certificate of completion of the FUJIFILM Advanced Synapse Administration.
