POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for all payroll related functions and provide support to all payroll related needs for the organization. The Senior Payroll Coordinator responsibilities include processing timesheets, updating payroll records and answering employee questions about payments.


Responsibilities

  • Full end to end payroll processing to ensure the accurate processing of wage payments to exempt and nonexempt staff
  • Process attendance records and other documents (e.g. W-2 and tax forms)
  • Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
  • Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll (e.g. terminations, new hires)
  • Oversee electronic payments and distribution of payroll checks
  • Process other financial compensations or deductions (e.g. annual bonuses, severance pay, taxes, worker's compensation)
  • Answer payroll-related questions from employees
  • Interacts with internal and external auditors; provides access to payroll and other related records as required
  • Maintains records for annual worker's compensation audits
  • Audits and maintains sick/annual leave records for all eligible employees
  • Compiles and maintains data necessary to calculate and process payments for annual /sick leave payoff upon termination
  • Processes termination documents and final checks
  • Sorts, prioritizes, reviews for accuracy and processes incoming payroll/personnel documents
  • Complete calendar year-end processing of payroll, including supplemental payrolls, W-2 and other tax forms

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 4+ years of payroll experience
  • Hands-on experience with payroll software/HRIS; Lawson and Kronos system experience preferred
  • Experience in Microsoft tools required: Outlook, Word, Excel

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to provide accurate and efficient service under the stress of constant deadlines
  • Knowledge of high-volume, multi-state payroll systems, processes, and procedures
  • Knowledge of public institution personnel/payroll practices and procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll documentation procedures and requirements
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax laws
  • Ability to understand and process complex paperwork
  • Knowledge of procedures and standards for check processing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to audit and maintain financial records#LI-B
