PURPOSE The Corporate Logistics Manager oversees all inbound and outbound transportation of raw materials and finished goods for Rite-Hite's North American operations. The role is responsible for developing logistics strategies, policies, and systems that ensure cost-effective shipping, streamlined processes, and high service levels for operating companies, distribution organizations, and end-user customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain logistics systems, policies, and procedures that support efficient, cost-effective outbound shipping while prioritizing customer satisfaction.
- Build and manage strong relationships with transportation providers across all modes, ensuring competitive pricing, quality service, and regular business reviews. Manage carrier performance issues, including filing and resolving service complaints.
- Collaborate closely with Rite-Hite Shipping Departments and Production Management to support timely order movement, including carrier assignment, late-shipment resolution, and consolidation and warehousing capabilities.
- Determine rate classifications and product descriptions; negotiate carrier contracts, pricing programs, and load allowances. Maintain all related documentation and lead annual bids for LTL and FTL services.
- Provide accurate and timely freight estimates to Arbon and independent representatives.
- Oversee the Prorate Freight process to ensure timely and accurate customer invoicing. Audit freight invoices to ensure accuracy and correct discrepancies.
- Manage the freight claims process, including validity review, carrier disputes, and follow-up within established timeframes. Ensure refunds are accurately applied, per the established process.
- Maintain strong cross-functional relationships with teams involved in Supply Chain, Order Administration, Distribution and Production Control to ensure optimal cost and service performance.
- Drive enhancement of Transportation Management System (TMS) to enhance visibility, automation, and performance tracking.
- Collect and analyze logistics data to support informed, metrics-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Establish and monitor logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, freight cost per unit, transit times, carrier performance)
- Monitor industry trends through ongoing communication with logistics organizations, carriers, and transportation groups.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Effective leadership for the Corporate Logistics Team, per the Supervisory Responsibilities stated below.
- Support for sales representatives and internal departments including: responsive freight quotes, routing guidance, shipment management, damage resolution, and other logistics needs.
- Driven continuous improvement of logistics processes to strengthen Rite-Hite's competitive position.
- High levels of measured productivity through minimization of total freight costs while maintaining expected levels of customer satisfaction.
- Timely reporting supported by data compiled from validated processes, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise a team of logistics professionals, including hiring, training, work planning, performance evaluation, recognition, discipline, problem resolution, and workload support. Responsibilities are executed in accordance with company policies and all applicable laws.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in transportation, supply chain, logistics management, or related field, plus a minimum of five years of relevant experience, including prior supervisory / people leader responsibility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, leadership capability, and analytical proficiency are required.
- Experience with TMS, JD Edwards/EnterpriseOne, and Salesforce is preferred but not required.
