Takes ownership of the project lifecycle overall by guiding teams and staff, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and monitoring progress toward project goals. Ensures that the project is completed successfully and provides support to team members and stakeholders as they complete essential tasks.

No Essential Functions -Develops comprehensive project plans, monitors, and manages projects from initiation through completion. -Secures required resources and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes. -Manages projects to ensure on-time completion, within specifications, and within budget. -Communicates regularly on project status with project stakeholders. -Owns project plans for medium to large-scale projects. -Provides guidance to project coordinators. -Identifies potential risks early, analyzes the possible impact, and develops mitigation strategies. Education: Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required Reporting to the Director of Operational Alignment, the Project Manager provides leadership for surgical instrument, supply optimization, and workflows across the continuum of service lines. The role supports integration efforts across the two Academic Medical Centers (AMC) by identifying opportunities to optimize and appropriately standardize inventory. The incumbent leads multi-campus operational integration efforts that ensure consistent execution of standard operating procedures, coordinated process improvement, and aligned performance expectations across MGH, BWH, and associated sites. Partnering closely with the Clinical Nurse Program Manager, the Project Manager directly engages surgeons, nursing leaders, and multidisciplinary stakeholders to guide complex, longitudinal optimization initiatives. The role leads structured project planning, supports data acquisition and interpretation, and drives change across both physical inventories and the information systems that enable clinical practice. Success in this role requires strong project leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to influence change without direct authority. The position leads cross-functional operational working groups-including quality, training, high-level disinfection and sterilization, SISO functions, and sustainment initiatives-to ensure enterprise alignment and long-term reliability. The incumbent translates evolving stakeholder needs, operational risks, and quality signals into coordinated improvement plans and system-level strategies that strengthen performance across the AMC CSPS network. Ensures that the project is completed successfully and provides support to team members and stakeholders as they complete essential tasks. Essential Functions: a. Develop project plans that are practical and appropriately scoped, including clear identification of stakeholders, assessment of required resources, and realistic implementation timelines b. Contribute directly to the execution and implementation of project deliverables, ensuring alignment with defined goals and timelines c. Lead project management logistics, including maintenance of project timelines, development of agendas, production and distribution of meeting minutes, document management, and preparation of routine status reports -Secures required resources and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes. a. Partner with AMC CSPS Directors and senior perioperative leaders to appropriately resource and staff projects, applying best practices in project management while influencing without direct ownership of resources b. Apply structured improvement methodologies such as Lean/Toyota Production System, rapid cycle testing, root cause analysis, and FMEA to drive measurable and sustainable improvements c. Utilize available tools to track project spend, resource utilization, and operational impact -Manages projects to ensure on-time completion, within specifications, and within budget. a. Proactively identify barriers to implementation and develop actionable strategies to mitigate risks and overcome obstacles b. Escalate risks and barriers to success to leadership in a timely and solution-oriented manner c. Serve as a subject matter expert in improvement methodologies, providing guidance and coaching to project teams and leadership as needed -Communicates regularly on project status with project stakeholders. a. Communicate consistently with key stakeholders and executive sponsors regarding project progress, critical milestones, emerging risks, and achievement of defined goals b. Schedule, facilitate, and lead Working Group and Task Force meetings on appropriate cadences (weekly, monthly, or as needed), ensuring initiatives remain active and aligned with enterprise priorities -Owns project plans for medium to large-scale projects. a. Partner with the Clinical Nurse Program Manager on the enterprise Surgical Instrument and Set Optimization (SISO) program to reduce unused instruments, standardize surgical sets and supplies, and align inventory with evolving surgical volume and practice patterns b. Develop and maintain complex project plans that balance surgeon preference, clinical safety, operational feasibility, and system-wide standardization objectives c. Provide staff support for high-priority strategic initiatives as requested by senior leadership d. Lead and support multidisciplinary teams focused on inventory optimization and workflow improvement across service lines -Provides guidance to project coordinators. a. Support knowledge transfer related to surgical workflows, instrumentation rationale, and evidence-based practice across service lines b. Guide analysis of surgeon utilization data, preference card information, instrument sterilization patterns, and qualitative clinical feedback to identify optimization opportunities c. Manage and support project coordinators, ensuring they have the tools, clarity, and guidance needed to execute effectively -Identifies potential risks early, analyzes the possible impact, and develops mitigation strategies. a. Develop and execute the analytic and measurement strategy for assigned projects, including definition of key metrics, identification of data sources, and collection of baseline and ongoing performance data b. Measure, monitor, and document outcomes using utilization data, clinical input, and operational metrics c. Synthesize and communicate findings in a clear and actionable manner to support informed clinical and operational decision-making Skills -Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple initiatives effectively in a complex environment Physical Requirements
