Job Responsibilities:


Job Summary:

The STI Services Coordinator position offers support related to sexually transmitted infection (STI) for adults with co-occurring substance use and serious/persistent mental illness in the community, along with individuals returning to the community from incarceration settings and others served by WCS. Various services provided may include individual or group education and counseling, support of WCS staff conducting education and training, recordkeeping for self and others related to education and counseling, assistance in accessing testing, education and support related to testing and treatment outcomes, assistance in contacting partners, program administration, 340B program operations, and compliance. The coordinator plays a vital role in assisting the individuals served to be healthy, independent, and successful in the Milwaukee community.

WCS invites individuals with a minimum of a high school diploma and experience in this area to apply. A bachelor's degree in the Human Services area related fields is preferred, along with individuals who have experience related to STI education, counseling, testing, and treatment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide individual and/or group education and counseling related to sexual activity, STIs, safe sex practices, harm reduction, condom use, and STI transmission modes to people served by WCS.
  • Provide practical and emotional support while connecting individuals to STI testing and treatment and supporting people related to test results and treatment plans
  • Support WCS CSP and TCM staff in the provision of STI education and counseling serving as a trainer for other staff, working in complex situations, and serving as a subject matter expert
  • Support clinical operations of STI services at the request of the lead medical staffer including material ordering, stocking, and assuring facilities and rooms are prepared to provide testing and treatment
  • Work closely with the pharmacy to assure people in need of treatment receive it and appropriate adherence education to support successful completion of treatment
  • Document all work of their own and other staff STI education and counseling efforts in the electronic health records system to assure appropriate health care recordkeeping and compliance with 340B requirements
  • Serve as a member of the 340B compliance committee or similar oversight body within WCS
  • Actively support the growth of the program to serve as many people served at WCS and within the community
  • Collaborate with marketing, internal communications, fundraising, and other staff as appropriate to promote the program and secure necessary financial support
  • Collaborate with finance staff to initiate and sustain billing for STI counseling and education services.
  • Other job-related duties that may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position

Job Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:



  • A high school diploma and experience in this area to apply.A bachelor's degree in the Human Services area related fields is preferred, along with individuals who have experience related to STI education, counseling, testing, and treatment.
  • No convictions or license revocations that would fail a caregiver background check
  • Valid driver's license, automobile, and sufficient insurance to meet agency requirements



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Good clinical skills, especially related to mental health and substance use disorders
  • Knowledge of STIs, transmission modes, testing, and treatment options
  • Ability to provide education and counseling related to sexual activity, harm reduction, STIs, and related topics
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively in a positive manner with a diverse population of staff and participants
  • Ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations, including de-escalation
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills while representing the agency both internally and externally
  • Ability to manage change, think critically, and be solution-oriented when dealing with situations as they arise in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organizational and computer/typing skills
  • Effective use of electronic health records systems
  • Knowledge of 340B and other related regulations or ability to learn quickly
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask to meet various deadlines
  • Commitment to the case manager role and the participants we serve
  • Ability to set professional boundaries with ethics and integrity

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position is based in an office setting. Must be able to go up and down stairs and lift/carry 20 pounds to periodically assist participants. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a busy treatment environment; most work is done sitting at a desk using a computer and/or meeting with participants. Hours are 40 per week, 8am-4pm, but a flexible schedule is required to meet the needs of staff and those we serve.
