Job Family Description

Engineering roles perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures. They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field.

Discipline Description

Engineering - Multidiscipline personnel typically manage a multidiscipline group of engineers. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

This role entails responsibility for coordinating submission of deliverables and communications between SRPPF staff, the Weapons Design Agency (WDA), other Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) Production Agencies (PA), and NNSA within the Defense Programs Business Practices System (DPBPS) requirements as the SRPPF PA Product Realization Team (PRT) Lead. This role will be highly visible both internal and external to the organization, requiring outstanding oral and written communication skills, ability to manage multiples stakeholder perspectives, and motivate personnel outside of their organization to achieve deliverable milestones. Day to day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: managing schedule, cost, and risk alignment between SRPPF and the weapon system; coordinating with and supporting the PRT sub-group leads to ensure taskings are met; developing documentation and presentations as deliverables to the PRT in concert with SRPPF program management, product engineering, process development and weapons quality; ensuring deliverable compliance with DPBPS requirements; elevating accomplishments, issues, or new risks to the appropriate leadership whether internal or external; coordinating PRT meeting agendas and attendance with the other labs/plants/sites; primary representative of the SRPPF PA at PRT meetings and weapons program reviews.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least ten years of experience (YOE), OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least eight years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE)
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
* Active Q clearance; 6+ years of experience within the Nuclear Security Enterprise; 3+ experience in DPBPS-centric Product Realization or Program Management

Prior experience as PRT lead for any Major Component in a nuclear weapon; Prior experience in the design and/or manufacture of nuclear weapons primaries or secondaries; Prior experience managing schedules in P6; Prior experience managing product requirements verification in Enterprise Secure Network systems; Familiarization with current model-based engineering design and digital thread implementation in the NSE.; Former graduate of either the Weapons Intern Program, Nuclear Weapons Management Orientation Course, or other equivalent.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
