THE POSITION

Are you a natural leader with a talent for organization and logistics? If so, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a Roadway Programs Specialist to become a vital part of our District 12 team. In this critical role, you will exercise sharp analytical skills and knowledge of highway systems to ensure our maintenance and roadway programs are equipped with all the necessary materials for safe and efficient operations. Apply today to contribute to our mission to enhance, connect, and add value to our communities by providing a sustainable, equitable transportation system and quality services for all!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Roadway Programs Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining overall data integrity for District 12's Plant Maintenance (PM) Material System, as well as providing training to new and existing employees regarding plant maintenance. You will collaborate with each county storeroom, Roadway Programs Coordinators, Assistant Managers, and foremen at stocking areas to review physical inventories in the field to determine actual on-hand inventory, as opposed to PM inventory. You will also conduct inventory spot checks on materials, and review the daily history report and other logs to monitor material usage exceptions and purchase requisition or order errors. Any discrepancies or pending deadlines must be promptly communicated to the appropriate personnel in order to ensure all counties are able to maintain accurate and effective inventories. Excellent organizational skills are vital, as you will be tasked with completing various reports and assisting with material contracts.
