Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Lean and CI, this role is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by improving production processes, implementing Lean manufacturing principles, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives. This role works cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support stable, repeatable manufacturing processes.

The position provides hands-on support for process optimization, data analysis, and problem solving while contributing to Lean initiatives such as standard work development, waste reduction, and process flow improvements. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer seeking to build practical experience in manufacturing systems and operational excellence.



Essential Responsibilities:

Process Improvement



  • Support the identification and implementation of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.


  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and waste.
  • Assist in executing Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and process optimization projects.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods.


Production Support



  • Provide daily MFG engineering support to production teams to ensure process stability and product quality.
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard work.


Data Analysis and Reporting



  • Collect and analyze production and quality data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Track key operational metrics such as OEE, scrap, cycle time, and throughput.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing improvement activities and results for leadership.


Lean Implementation



  • Support deployment of Lean tools such as: 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, Waste Reduction
  • Continuous Flow improvements
  • Assist with training production personnel on Lean concepts and best practices.


Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Work closely with production supervisors, quality engineers, maintenance, and supply chain teams to drive operational improvements.
  • Support new product introductions and process validation activities.
  • All other duties as assigned by management


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 1 + years of manufacturing or engineering experience (internships/co-ops considered).
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Familiarity with BOM structures, routings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Understanding of time studies, process improvement, or Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel and basic data analysis.



Preferred:



  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Exposure to Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and value stream mapping.
