Position Summary: Our mission is to transform the healthcare experience through culinary excellence and genuine hospitality, proving that great food and compassionate service are essential partners to our community.Under general supervision, maintains sanitation in the food court and kitchen. Works independently in waste, linen and compost removal. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of equipment including but not limited to dish machine, pot wash machine, service areas and work stations in an orderly condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleans and sanitizes counters, tray lines, food wells, appliances and equipment in Main Kitchen work space and according to specific schedule
  • Reads and records temperature of appropriate food and equipment daily
  • Maintains high levels of sanitation of all equipment by adhering to department policies and procedures, Health department codes and J.C.A.H.O. regulations
  • May train lower level employees
  • Washes dishes, silverware, trays and serving equipment using dish machine and three bay sink
  • Monitors sanitation and food handling, storage and temperature to ensure compliance with established codes and standards
  • Prepares service areas at the start and end of each meal period following established schedules
  • Turns on equipment and measures, tests and distributes sanitation solutions
  • Arranges, straightens and cleans dining tables, chairs and counters
Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma / GED is preferred, and 6 months of similar experience is required. Sanitation Experience is preferred
  • Ability to read and understand instruction and use math in food preparation and other duties
  • Skills to add, subtract and understand numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters
  • Comprehension of weights measures, recipe conversion and portion control to minimize waste
  • Trains junior staff
  • Customer service skills with ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees
Certifications:
  • ServSafe Certification is preferred
  • MA Allergen Training or AllerTrain Manager Certification is preferred
Physical Requirements:
* Lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing up to 10lbs and occasionally 11-20lbs
* Regularly stooping and bending
* Reaching and grasping objects below, above and at shoulder level Lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing up to 10 pounds
* Regularly grasping and fine manipulation with hands
* Regularly sitting and standing
* Frequently inputting/retrieving words or data into or from an automated/computer system

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
