Job Summary The Entry-Level Data Center Technician supports the installation, maintenance, and organization of structured cabling and infrastructure within critical data center environments. This contract-to-hire role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and a pathway for career growth within the telecom and low voltage industry. Technicians work on large-scale infrastructure projects, assisting with fiber and copper cabling, equipment installation, and maintaining organized cable management systems while adhering to strict safety standards. The role requires working in active construction environments, collaborating with a team to build and connect server racks, cabinets, and network infrastructure throughout data center facilities. Candidates must be open to travel to project sites as required. Job Responsibilities

Install and support structured cabling infrastructure, including fiber and copper cabling rough-in.

Pull, dress, label, terminate, test, and patch cable within data center environments.

Perform cable management tasks to maintain organized and clearly labeled cabling systems.

Rack and stack customer equipment and assist with server rack build-outs and rack elevation setup.

Install infrastructure components including fiber trays, ladder racks, power trays, cabinets, and cable management systems.

Assist with outside plant fiber installation entering the data center environment.

Receive materials and assemble hardware required for infrastructure installation.

Read and interpret blueprints and installation documentation to complete assigned tasks.

Maintain clear and professional communication with team members and supervisors.

Follow all jobsite safety procedures including proper PPE use, site cleanliness, and OSHA guidelines.

Adapt to varying tasks within the project and support team needs across different stages of installation.

Participate in ongoing training and skill development while working alongside experienced technicians.
Job Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.

0-2 years of experience in data center operations, low voltage cabling, or related technical environments preferred.

Basic understanding of structured cabling systems is preferred but not required.

OSHA 10 certification preferred.

Ability to read and follow technical documentation and blueprints.

Ability to work in construction or active data center environments while wearing required PPE.

Open to travel to various project locations as required.

Physical ability to work on ladders or scissor lifts and in confined spaces.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds when necessary.

Ability to remain on feet for extended shifts, including potential evening or weekend work.

Strong willingness to learn, adapt to new tasks, and work collaboratively within a team environment.

Experience with cable testing equipment such as Fluke testers or fiber splicing equipment such as Fujikura splicers is a plus.
Education
Work Experience

0-2 years of experience in low voltage, telecommunications, construction, data center environments, or other skilled trades preferred.

Experience in commercial construction or data center low voltage environments is beneficial.
