Mechanical Technician II (Millwright) 2nd Shift

The ideal candidate will have:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Florida Driver's License
• Minimum of four (4) years of power plant mechanical maintenance experience, OR seven (7) years of industrial multi-craft mechanical maintenance experience.
• Certifications and specialized training required and to be maintained thereafter:
• ASME Arc (stick) Welding (Must obtain within 1 year)
• Completion of required General Physics (GPI) learnings and JPMs through Mechanical Technician III progression level (or equivalent training if external candidate)

Salary Range: Starting at $39.098 per hour (Estimated $81,323.84 annually) with a structured step progression system and performance-based pay increases every 6 months up to $ 45.191 per hour (Estimated $93,997.28 annually)

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of OUC's power plant systems and equipment. The Tech II classification is expected to hone and develop the mastery of their specialization, focusing on a specific area of the Power Plant while becoming more familiar over time with other areas. They are expected to be able to work independently on simple to moderate maintenance tasks. Systems and equipment include but are not limited to: pumps, compressors, turbines, piping, valves, crushers, boilers, etc.

Primary Functions:

• Troubleshoot power plant equipment and mechanical systems, including problem identification, evaluation of alternative solutions, and implementation of corrective action;
• Perform maintenance activities on steam turbines, valves, bearings, turbines, high and low horsepower fans, pumps, air compressors, hydraulic systems, centrifugal pumps, conveyor systems (pneumatic and belt), crushers and all equipment related to a power plant;
• Perform millwright specific duties while developing mastery in craft specialization; duties include dismantling, repairing and re-installing equipment and system pieces, making precision measurements for alignments, and complex rigging of heavy equipment; duties sometimes performed under the supervision of a Tech I until demonstrated ability to perform independently;
• Demonstrate proficiency of other craft specialization duties within the expectations of the Tech III level (Competent in less complex tasks, developing in moderate/advanced tasks);
• Utilize P&IDs and other documentation displaying the configuration and specification of parts, equipment, and systems to perform maintenance work;
• Mentor and guide lower classification technicians within the Millwright specialization's duties to help with their learning and development in progression;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Requirements:

• Working knowledge of all, but not limited to the following:
  • OSHA Safety practices and procedures (i.e. LOTO practices, PPE, vehicle safety policies, fire safety procedures, fall-arrest and confined spaces protocols, etc.);
  • Mechanical maintenance of heavy equipment (power plant, industrial, etc.);
  • Millwright craft work to include, installation, repair, alignment, and complex rigging of heavy equipment;
  • Power plant systems, their redundancies, and outage schedules (preferred);
  • Interpretation and editing of relevant documents outlining the layout, configuration, and specifications of various equipment (i.e. blueprints, P&IDs, etc.)
  • Use of equipment to include: Maintenance shop tools, rigging equipment, precision alignment tools (rotalign etc.) forklift, mobile crane, Arial lifts, measurement tools, etc.;
  • Software and technologies to include: Eclipse [for LOTO procedures], JD Edwards Enterprise One (E1) [for TRs and PM work orders]
• Familiarity with all, but not limited to the following:
  • Specialized welder and machinist practices expected of experienced Technician III level personnel;
  • Power Plant operations (preferred);
  • Basics of electrical theory;
  • Related industry, organizational and departmental regulatory guidelines, best practices, and procedures;
• Welding skills expected of Tech III level (Competent in less complex tasks, developing in moderate/advanced tasks);
• Machinist skills expected of Tech III level;
• Strong problem solving, time management, and communication skills;
• Ability to:
  • Learn and comply with OUC Safety practices and procedures (i.e. LOTO practices, PPE, Job Hazard Analysis, vehicle safety policies, fire safety procedures, fall-arrest and confined spaces protocols, etc.);
  • Utilize tools and equipment to take precision measurements;
  • Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages;
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.) with basic proficiency.

Working Conditions:

This job requires willingness to work extended hours when required including nights, weekends, and holidays. This job requires working in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, confined spaces, excessive noise, chemicals, noxious fumes, vibration, extreme heat (non-weather), insects, and occasionally extreme weather conditions. This job involves risk of electrical shock.

Physical Requirements:

This job includes constant or very frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, speaking & hearing (English), typing, and detailed inspection/reading/editing. This job involves frequent lifting up to 40 lbs, and occasional lifting 50+ lbs, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and/or digging, reaching over head, and kneeling/crawling. This job requires regular use of company vehicles.
