Job Description




As a Security Officer - Checkpoint Screener in Rockville, MD, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. You will conduct screening at checkpoints, including operating screening equipment, checking credentials, managing visitor flow, and responding to alarms and incidents with clear communication. You will remain visible, complete detailed reports, and partner with site staff and your Allied Universal team to support a professional, people-first environment built on integrity, teamwork, and innovation.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to site visitors and staff by following assigned access control procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities.
  • Screen visitors, employees, and deliveries using approved methods such as identification verification, visitor logs, and use of screening equipment as assigned, while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, observe for unusual activity, and help to deter prohibited items and/or unauthorized access through consistent security-related screening practices.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including notifying appropriate personnel and documenting observations per post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, including interior and/or exterior perimeters as directed, with working environments and conditions varying by location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have a minimum of 2 or more years of security-related experience.
  • Be 21 or more years of age.
  • X-Ray screening experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
