The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Manager for Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the Mail Services Manager, this position provides assistance to the manager on administrative and supervision of the daily operations and performance of a complex operational unit. This unit delivers mail and packages to 5 different student post offices on the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus daily. These student post offices consist of 3,500 automated lockers and handle mail and packages for over 46,000 students. This unit delivers staff mail and packages on 14 different mail routes across the university daily. These routes consist of 26,000 employees spread over 600 mail stops, over 430,000 incoming packages delivered, 2,140,000 incoming mails processed, 170,000 customer walkups, 10,000 emailed inquiries, 2,500,000 outgoing metered mail, and 8,000 packages sent out annually. Ensures accurate and timely processing of requests and actions, and professional, prompt, and courteous service to clients. This position is customer-focused driven and provides a metric for handling students' requests within a 24-hour period.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides supervision of academic support and policy interpretation, purchasing, personnel, space and facilities planning and major event design.
- Resolves a diverse range of problems consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the unit and with a comprehensive understanding of administration/office management in accordance with management principles, applicable regulations, and university policies and procedures. Interprets, communicates, and implements policies and practices for differing needs of a diverse client population.
- Establishes performance standards and conducts evaluations.
- Performs professional work that requires specialized general knowledge in one or more fields of management/administration and a solid understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, regulations, terminology, and applied bases in area of specialization.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program design and execution, coordination, organization, facilitation, and report analysis.
- A minimum of two years relevant experience in mailroom operations maintenance experience or administrative function that includes coordination of work and management of people.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Preferred experience and training within a USPS or commercial package delivery company that provides transportation, logistics, and/or financial services in the United States and/or internationally.
