Join Lenovo's corporate ESG team as an Advisory Engineer responsible for Motorola's Americas Environmental Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs. This role will be based in Chicago, Illinois; Morrisville, North Carolina; or remote and report to the Senior Manager, Global ESG Operations.

Job Responsibilities

The Advisory Engineer will work in close collaboration with business, corporate and government relation teams to maintain compliance programs. The position will support Lenovo's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation and corporate commitments related to environmental compliance. As part of the corporate ESG team, the position will work with cross functional teams to meet customer requirements and corporate environmental goals.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Track and analyze Americas emerging and existing EPR requirements including e-waste, packaging, battery, repairability, durability and circular economy
  • Manage compliance programs and relationships with service providers to ensure timely submissions, target achievements and audits success
  • Track regulatory due dates and prepare reports or other submissions to regulatory agencies
  • Drive requirements and improve processes for EPR reporting
  • Support sales and customer account teams with responses to requests for information, customer proposals, questionnaires, and presentations
  • Collaborate with the government relations team and engage with external NGOs, industry trade organizations and others to drive the development of responsible regulations
  • Assist extended global ESG team with additional projects as needed
  • Participate in global meetings outside of standard working hours

Basic Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in product development / engineering, environmental or regulatory compliance, environmental engineering, or related fields
  • Bachelor's degree in related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience with environmental regulatory compliance, EPR or management systems implementation (e.g., ISO 14001)
  • Strong project management skills to execute cross functional projects
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working in complex global organizations
  • Self-starter who proactively identifies risks/issues and develops innovative solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for communication of technical requirements to diverse stakeholders and management

The base salary budgeted range for this position is $100k - 145K. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
