Role Overview: This role provides senior-level occupational health and safetyexpertiseto one of Apex's most valued clients, a national aerospace manufacturer. For over 25 years, Apex has partnered closely with this client to achieve their Occupational Health, Ergonomics, and Safety Engineering goals. The Senior Industrial Hygienist (Sr. IH) will serve as the primary IH lead on the shop floor at the client's Wichita, Kansas facility, working under the direction of the on-site Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). This is a full-time, on-site position (5 days per week, 8-hour day shift) foran initial6-month period, with possibleextensionbased on performance and client needs. The incumbent will provide day-to-day IH oversight and coordination on the shop floor, translating CIH program direction into actionable field tasks for mid-level IH staff and technicians. This role includes conducting complex field evaluations, mentoring junior IH staff, ensuring data quality and proper field practices, and serving as a key liaison between the CIH and production teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical IH competency, practical field experience, effective mentoring skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. A proactive, collaborative approach andstrong communicationskills are essential. As a fixed-term engagement, this position is authorized for 6 months, with potential extension based on performance and client requirements Your Responsibilities as a Sr. Industrial Hygienist:
- Serve as the primary IH lead on the shop floor under the direction of the CIH, providing day-to-day IH oversight and coordination.
- Translate CIH program direction into actionable field tasks for mid-level IH staff and technicians, ensuring sampling and assessments are executed as intended.
- Conduct higher-level qualitative exposure assessments and complex field evaluations, confirming or refining exposure scenariosidentifiedby mid-level IH staff.
- Review sampling strategies, task groupings, and monitoring plans prepared by mid-level IH staff and recommend adjustments to the CIH as needed.
- Perform spot checks and validation sampling to verify data quality, representativeness, and proper use of methods, equipment, and PPE in the field.
- Mentor and coach mid-level IH staff and other EHS personnel on IH fundamentals, field practices, and interpretation of results, escalating more complex technical questions to the CIH.
- Provide preliminary interpretation of exposure data versus regulatory and internal limits and summarize key findings for CIH review and final sign-off.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to verify that engineering and administrative controls are implemented and function as described in IH and EHS plans.
- Help track IH-related corrective actions and projects (controls, sampling campaigns, program updates), ensuring mid-level IH staff have clear priorities and timelines.
- Supply concise, field-based status updates, emerging issues, and trend information to the CIH and EHS leadership to support higher-level program decisions.

- Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
- RepresentsApex's excellence to client stakeholders with full-time on-site support at a client's manufacturing facility.
- Brings a strong background in occupational health and safety sciences such as chemistry, physics, toxicology, and industrial hygiene field methods.
- Strong skills in collecting, assessing, organizing, and summarizing data; implementing solutions and changes within programs tooptimizeemployee safety.
- Applicable experience in following regulatory methodologies for gathering impactful data and ensuring data quality and representativeness.
- Ability to support audits, inspections, and investigations and coordinate resolution of issues.
- Understanding ofemerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methods.
- Works in close routine collaboration with the CIH and customer EHS team, supporting and executing an agreed-to service plan. Monitors andreportsprogress on plan completion as directed.
- Works withnumerousinternal and external stakeholders in the interest of achieving desired overall project velocity and program goals.
- Acts as a field-level advisor to production teams and mid-level IH staff on occupational health issues.
- Provides input to the CIH, project managers, and client relationship managers on field observations, program effectiveness, and potential opportunities for program improvement.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in IndustrialHygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field;6-10 years of experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Industrial Hygiene principles and field practicesrequired.
- CIH or CSP certification preferred but notrequired.
- Strongexpertisein exposure assessment, sampling methods, and data interpretation.
- Solid knowledge of OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH, and related standards.
- Proven ability to lead field operations and mentor junior IH staff.
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments in manufacturing environments.
- Skilledin data quality verification, sampling strategy review, and technical reporting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and EHS software tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally.
