Role Overview:

This role is to provide overarching occupational health and safety expertise through the field of Industrial Hygiene to one of Apex's most valued clients, a national aerospace manufacturer. Over the last 2 decades Apex has worked hand and hand with the national aerospace manufacturer helping them achieve their Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomic and Safety Engineering goals. The incumbent will serve as aMid-LevelIndustrial Hygiene contractorat theirWichita, Kansasfacility. This role will be a full-time, onsite position. The client has requested8-hourdays, 5 days a week.The initial role is for6-monthswith possible extension based on performance.

The incumbent will executeoccupational safetyand industrial hygieneprojects from start to finish.This rolewill routinely involve; (1)workplace / shop floorindustrialhygieneexposureassessments,(2)datamanagement andtracking and through the client's internal databasesystems(3)providing deliverablesbased on the completed assessments, and (4) industrial hygiene programeffectiveness evaluations and continuous improvement support.

But, perhaps most importantly, the incumbent will be an energetic self-starter with the ability to work independentlyand produce results within budget and timeframe.

Responsibilities as anIndustrial Hygienist:



  • Providingcomprehensiveoccupationalsafetyand industrial hygieneconsulting services to clients, includingconductingshop floor observations focused onidentifying,assessingand risk-rankingemployeeexposuresto injuryor illness, anddevising solution options aimed at mitigatinginjury/illnessexposures.
  • In collaboration withApexclient relationship managers, coordinates and executessafetyand industrial hygieneprojects within set organizational procedures and standards.
  • In close routine collaboration with the external customer, implements and executes an agreed-to service plan.Monitors andreportsprogress on plan completion as directed.Works withnumerousinternal and external stakeholders in the interest of achieving desired overall project velocity.
  • Acts as an advisor to the customer onoccupationalsafetyand industrial hygieneissues.
  • Provides input to client relationship managers or business development staff on potential newEHSprojects.


What we're looking for:



  • Bachelor's degreerequired-preferably,in a science or engineering field.
  • Minimum3-7years ofhands-onexperiencerequired,working in the occupational safetyandindustrial hygienefields.
  • Examples of desirable(but notrequired) professional credentials:Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP);Associate Safety Professional (ASP);Certified Safety Professional (CSP);Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Experience inmanufacturing-&-assemblyindustries / heavy industrysettingsa plus.Experience in the aerospace and defenseor automotiveindustrya furtherplus.
  • Possess knowledge ofoccupational safetyand industrial hygienetechnical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within theoccupational safetyand industrial hygienefields.Just a few topics wheretechnical knowledge isrequired:



INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE (IH):



  • Shop Floor IH Sampling / Monitoring practices & techniques:
  • Chemicals; Noise; Ventilations Systems
  • Similar Exposure Groups (SEG) monitoring concepts
  • IH Program Management
  • Examples:Hazard Communication; Hearing Conservation; Respiratory Protection
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • A great deal of creativity and self-starter initiative is required.This position entails routine ongoing work withnumerouscustomer stakeholders - all of whom need to be 'satisfied' with respect to project purpose, scope, and tactics.
  • Relies on experience and judgmentpaired with the overall work statement provided by the customerto plan andaccomplishgoals.
  • Ensurescompliance with allEHSregulations, andkeeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations thatimpactthe organization.
  • Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices
  • Experience with data management andreport preparation.
  • Valid driver's licenserequired.
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office suite.
