Position Summary: The Senior Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of accounting for inventory, program profitability tracking, and supporting financial compliance. As a key member of the accounting team, the senior accountant will play a critical role during month-end close and will be expected to assist not only with accounting for inventory but also with internal and external financial reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Lead month-end processes that support accounting, including but not limited to inventory analysis, booking of journal entries, and preparation of reconciliation of ledger accounts as well as FACTS reporting in SAP.
  • Liaise with the Head of Supply Services to investigate and analyze variances, and the accuracy of stock adjustments from cycle counts and physical inventory counts.
  • Conduct physical inventories and monitor cycle count program (including compliance with audit).
  • Partner with Procurement and Accounts Payable to track and monitor prepaid expenses by supplier, including the monthly preparation of the prepaid reconciliation.
  • Determine accounting treatment for changes to supplier contracts.
  • Complete reconciliation of other balance sheet accounts, including the calculation of the current and non-current split where applicable.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and assist management on all accounting activities.
  • Prepare key schedules used for accounting, audit, tax and external reporting.
  • Support corporate financial audits, including external, internal, and government audits.
  • Participate in the implementation of changes to policies, procedures, and systems to facilitate growth, compliance and scaling of the business.



Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field of study.


Experience:



  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (cost accounting in a manufacturing environment preferred).


Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:



  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to effectively address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate; ability to proactively identify and prevent potential problems.
  • Strong grasp of GAAP and Manufacturing Accounting concepts.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to travel internationally.


Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):



  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrates high level of accuracy and thoroughness of work.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational and follow through skills.
  • Must be able to interact cordially and productively with co-workers, managers, and guests.
  • Must be dependable and clearly follow instructions and directions.


Technical Systems Proficiency:



  • Fluent in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledgeable of computer search engines a must.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, such as Pentagon2000 & SAP.
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Excel and spreadsheets.


Decision Making, Complexity:



  • Position requires the ability to make appropriate decisions regarding routine transactions processing which reflect a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls and finance best practices.
  • Position requires the ability to correctly prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency for the company.
  • Position requires a great deal of personal initiative, autonomous engagement and drive to meet or exceed deadlines while producing accurate and audit worthy financial data integrity.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions with little or no supervision.
  • Requires the ability to work in an international environment, including overseas suppliers.


Travel Required:



  • Less than 10% Domestic and International


Eligibility:



  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
