Job Description

Since 1957, LPI Corporation has manufactured products for jet engines, aircraft components, and other aerospace & defense applications. ROLE: The role will fabricate, assemble, and repair aerospace components and subassemblies in accordance with approved designs and regulatory requirements.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.




  • Fabricate and assemble sheet metal aircraft components and subassemblies per approved drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Operate fabrication equipment, including shears, brakes, presses, rollers, and hand/power tools.
  • Perform inspections on fabricated components to verify conformance to dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
  • Repair or modify sheet metal parts in compliance with design approvals and FAA regulations.
  • Utilize precision tools to perform structural repairs and modifications to exacting standards in accordance with provided technical data.
  • Utilize mechanical and hand blending techniques of major structural components using high speed grinders, sanding blocks, DA sanders, and similar tools.
  • Prepare part surfaces prior to coating/painting using mechanical stripping and/or sand applications on parts.
  • Document all work performed in accordance with customer requirements and internal quality management procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and production teams to troubleshoot fabrication issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.


Requirements

EDUCATION:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in sheet metal fabrication preferred.


EXPERIENCE:



  • Proven experience in aerospace sheet metal fabrication
  • Proficiency with sheet metal tools, machinery, and fabrication techniques.
  • Knowledge of aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and high temperature alloys.



PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:



  • Sheet Metal Worker Journeyman Certification
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
  • Welding certifications for aerospace materials (TIG/MIG)



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES:


Language/Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, schematics, and CAD files. Excellent ability to communicate both orally and in writing and ability to work effectively in a team environment.


Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, manual dexterity, strict attention to detail, and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction.


Technical Skills: Knowledge or some level of understanding of manufacturing tooling for new product development



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Extended periods of standing, bending, or kneeling may be required. The associate must have the ability to lift, carry, and manipulate sheet metal and assemblies up to 50 lbs.



WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; must be comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, or in variable environmental conditions. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
