Summary of Job Duties:We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Post Doctoral Fellow to contribute to NIH-funded studies advancing innovative approaches to postpartum opioid use recovery. This role will be central to developing and disseminating research examining how infant caregiving behaviors, social relationships, mood, pain, and hormones influence substance misuse during and after pregnancy. The position offers opportunities to expand into related areas such as maternal mental health, infant and child health, and large-scale data analyses using electronic health records and public datasets. Professional development is a strong focus, with mentorship from Dr. Alicia Allen, Director of the National Center for Opioid Research and Clinical Efficacy, and opportunities to strengthen skills in advanced statistical analysis, scientific writing, grant preparation, presentations, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field, demonstrate a strong publication record, possess statistical expertise, and be effective communicators and collaborators. Remote work arrangements will be considered, with occasional travel opportunities. This is a one-year appointment, renewable based on funding and performance. Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, nursing, psychology, neuroscience, clinical/translational sciences, or related field required.

  • Applicants who are ABD for the terminal degree may be considered to be eligible for employment if the doctoral degree is conferred by the appointment start date.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with preparing peer-reviewed publications.

  • Proficiency in statistical programming in R and/or SAS.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize existing data to propose new projects that are aligned with PI, team, and center goals.

  • Complete literature reviews.

  • Conduct statistical analyses.

  • Draft, revise, and submit manuscripts with co-authors for publication.

  • Draft, revise, and present research findings at conferences.

  • Participate in various related professional development activities.

  • Assist in the identification of applicable funding opportunities.

  • Complete literature reviews.

  • Assist with the drafting and revising of grant applications.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is a Designated Research Position and is regulated by the Arkansas Research Education Protection Act of 2025.
