Job Details Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CSPDT REQUIRED) Casual/Per Diem (2) 5 hours shifts during the week- evening/overnight weeknight shift \| 10pm-3am Tues, Wed or Wed, Thursday (2) 8 hours shifts every other weekend days with open flexibility for all shifts \|Every other weekend 9a-5:30pm Location: Wilmington At ChristianaCare, excellence in patient care begins long before a procedure starts. We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure surgical instruments and equipment are cleaned, assembled, packaged, and sterilized to support patient safety and clinical excellence. This role performs instrument processing in compliance with CBSPD, AAMI, and HSPA standards while following evidencebased practices and safety policies related to infection prevention and bloodborne pathogens. Technicians maintain knowledge of aseptic technique and basic microbiology and participate in ongoing training to stay current with evolving sterilization practices. RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleans and decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment following established policy and procedure. Inspects, assembles, packages and sterilizes medical devices following manufacturer's recommendations and established procedure. Assemble, wrap and label basic and especially specialty instruments and sets according to information in the CensiTrfac system for tracking purposes. Receive, unload, sort, inspect, wash and process instruments and equipment for decontamination both manually and by automated means. Reads, interprets, and records sterilization parameters from sterilizer recording mechanism and completes records of sterilization process, chemical/biological test results, and sterilizer cleaning. Provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility, in accordance with The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards. Wrap and label stainless steel items. Operate and perform daily cleaning and maintenance of all departmental equipment per policies for multiple sterilization and decontamination equipment. Inventory and restock reprocessed sterile items in sterile storage areas. Fill Operating Room case cart requisitions for scheduled next day cases, add-on cases and STAT cases with instruments, linen, stainless steel items, soft good supplies, etc. Unload washer-disinfector racks of decontaminated instruments and stainless steel items and place in designated areas. Assist with orientation and training of Sterile Processing Interns Maintain assigned work area in a clean and organized manner following written departmental housekeeping policy. Answer telephone calls as appropriate. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED required. Sterile Processing Technician Certification CBSPD/CRCST required. Individuals that were employed prior to requirements will be grandfathered. Hourly Pay Range: $19.84 - $29.76 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
