This role serves as the Direct Material Excellence (DME) engineering owner for assigned components and subsystems, driving cost-out initiatives, quality improvements, and technical robustness. The role works closely with the Global R&D organization, ensuring alignment to global design standards, technology sharing, and adoption of best practices. Collaboration spans regional engineering teams, global component owners, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Product & Component Development

  • Lead design, redesign, and validation of mechanical and electromechanical components for the plastic tub dishwasher platform.
  • Develop new components aligned with global design standards, shared modules, and engineering rules.
  • Create engineering documentation including CAD models (Catia/NX experience preferred), drawings, specifications, DFMEA, and DVP&R.

Direct Material Excellence (DME) - Cost Out

  • Serve as DME engineering owner for assigned plastic tub dishwasher components and subsystems.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement cost-out initiatives through VA/VE activities, supplier proposals, and design optimization.

Quality & Reliability Improvement

  • Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action for field or manufacturing issues.
  • Implement design changes to improve quality, manufacturability, and service call rate performance.
  • Coordinate with Global R&D to share learnings, integrate global quality tools, and align on lessons learned for common components.

Global R&D Collaboration Responsibilities:

Cross-Regional Engineering Alignment

  • Partner with Global R&D teams (EU, LATAM, APAC) to ensure platform components meet global product architecture standards.

Technology Transfer & Best Practices

  • Exchange design solutions, test methods, and validation learnings for common modules (motors, pumps, valves, sensors, wiring harnesses).
  • Drive reapplication of successful global solutions into the North America plastic tub dishwasher platform.
  • Provide input to global guidelines for plastic part design, electromechanical integration, and system-level robustness.

Global Supplier & Manufacturing Integration

  • Collaborate with global supplier engineering teams to evaluate design feasibility, cost drivers, and regional manufacturing differences.
  • Support global supplier alignment for common component families to enable scale, cost synergy, and consistent quality.

Technical Communication

  • Provide updates to global stakeholders on DME progress, quality improvements, and design changes.
  • Participate in global technical reviews, design gates, and strategic decision forums.
  • Partner with global Advanced Development teams to test emerging technologies and integrate insights into NA platform requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, or related engineering field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in product development, preferably in electromechanical systems or consumer appliances.
  • Experience with injection-molded plastic part design, electromechanical integration, and component-level validation.

Qualifications:

  • Strong collaborator across local and global engineering organizations.
  • Shares knowledge and adopts best practices across regions.
  • Independently manages priorities while aligning with global technology owners and regional stakeholders.
  • Understanding dishwasher system behavior, water handling, plastic tub construction, or electromechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, reliability engineering, and DVP&R.
  • Experience leading VA/VE activities and cost-out engineering.
  • Global collaboration experience strongly preferred.
