Overview This position is responsible for the specification, installation, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of various kinds and types of equipment and systems. Coordinates, trains, assigns, schedules, and monitors the work of his/her team and others relating to their campus of responsibility. Is responsible for the safety, reliability, and operation of the facility, as well as maintaining regulatory records, responsible for tracking and maintaining operating budget for their campus of responsibility, responsible for maintaining the building, grounds, and parking lots in good condition. Assists and trains others and uses excellent communications and customer relation skills. Should be versatile and a jack of all trades. Works with other team leaders in job or project planning and scheduling. Needs to possess good people skills and have experience in the supervision and motivation of facilities staff. Responsibilities * Responsible for the operation of the building and grounds department, with guidance from the Manager of Buildings and Grounds * Possess ability to effectively manage people. * Train and orient those who are responsible to * Supervise, inspect, assign work of subordinates * Complete performance appraisals for building and grounds employees * Schedule working hours of subordinates * Order section's routine small equipment, parts and materials * Supervise operation of preventive maintenance system * Review equipment maintenance requirements and keep records * Supervise and assist in plant repairs * Assume responsibility for portions of department in the absence of Buildings and Grounds Manager * Will be a working supervisor and must be an expert in the basic skills inventory required of subordinates. Qualifications Education: High school degree or GED equivalent required. Schooling in job-related technical courses required. Experience: Ten years experience in building maintenance and operation required. License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Mechanical, electrical knowledge required Ability to analyze complex machinery or equipment. | |
