The Mechanic Role demonstrates a level of technical proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. This role demands advanced expertise and the capability to execute intricate maintenance and repair tasks with minimal supervision, ensuring optimal vehicle performance and safety. 1) Engine Diagnosis and Repair including:
- Diagnose and repair a range of engine types, including diesel, electric, and hydrogen fuel cell engines, utilizing diagnostic tools to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and long-term durability.
2) Technical Leadership and Mentorship including:
- Serve as a technical resource for Mechanic Helpers and Mechanic IV team members, providing guidance on diagnostics and repair procedures, enhancing team skills and performance.
3) Troubleshoot and Repair Engine and Body Accessories including:
- Heating and Air Conditioning Systems: Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs to maintain system functionality.
- Electrical Components: Resolve issues in alternators, generators, and voltage regulators to ensure electrical systems remain operational.
- Suspension, Braking, and Steering Systems: Apply basic diagnostic skills to service critical systems, maintaining vehicle safety and performance.
4) Electrical and Pneumatic System Maintenance including:
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, such as gauges, interior and exterior lights, and electric motors, addressing minor electrical issues for proper system function.
- Maintain and service pneumatic valves, control cables, and linkages to ensure these systems operate efficiently.
5) Routine and General Maintenance Tasks including:
- Perform routine lubrication tasks, including engine oil/filter changes, air filter replacements, and chassis lubrication, ensuring vehicle reliability.
- Change transmission fluid and filters, check differential fluid, and replace tires, maintaining optimal vehicle performance.
- Remove and install components such as seats, brake drums, brake shoes, and suspension parts, ensuring proper assembly and safety.
6) Advanced Repairs and Replacements including:
- Repair or replace critical components like radiators, water pumps, hoses, wheel bearings, seals, door assemblies, seating components, and control systems, ensuring continued vehicle functionality and performance.
7) Glass Installations and Body Repairs including:
- Assist in glass installations and perform basic body repairs, ensuring high-quality workmanship and structural integrity

Other duties as assigned Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in automotive, diesel, or related fields. Familiarity with engine, driveline, and electrical systems is preferred.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL): A CDL with Air and Passenger endorsements is beneficial for operating and testing vehicles as part of maintenance and repair activities is preferred but not required.
- High-Voltage (HV) Safety Certification: Essential for safely working on hybrid or electric vehicles, particularly those with high-voltage systems is highly desired but not required.
- High-Voltage Maintenance/Repair Training: Training in HV systems equips candidates to perform diagnostics and repairs on cutting-edge vehicle technologies is highly desired but not required.
- Diagnostic Tools: Utilize systems like Vansco, Cummins INSITE, and other diagnostic tools to assess and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, ensuring accurate and efficient diagnoses.
- Fleet & Data Management Software: Operate platforms like Oracle and Fleetio to track maintenance activities, input work orders, and manage fleet data, ensuring streamlined operations and up-to-date records.
- Proficiency in computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar management, as well as the ability to quickly learn and navigate other digital tools and software.
Additional requirements:
- Strength and Endurance:
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Perform repetitive tasks, including bending, kneeling, and crouching, throughout the workday.
- Mobility and Dexterity:
- Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, work on elevated surfaces, and access tight or confined spaces to service vehicles.
- Proficiency in using hands and arms to handle tools, manipulate small components, and operate equipment with precision.
- Standing and Movement:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time (up to 8+ hours).
- Visual and Hearing Acuity:
- Adequate visual ability to read diagnostic screens, inspect parts for defects, and identify color-coded wires and components.
- Hearing capability to detect unusual vehicle noises, alarms, or other diagnostic indicators.
- Environmental Factors:
- Work may be performed in varying conditions, including exposure to loud noises, vibrations, dust, fumes, and temperature fluctuations.
- Comfortable wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots, for extended periods.
- Safety Awareness:
- Must be physically and mentally capable of adhering to all workplace safety procedures and handling equipment or vehicles safely.
