Our IS&T (Information Services and Technology) department provides all the required technology and operational support services to run our business here in BMC! We have over 200 servers on premises to support production, disaster recovery, databases, applications and over 1000 servers in Lab environment. IS&T is transformational not only for BMC but also for the customer experience, because we give a 360 degrees view to the customer about the products they should know, opportunities in the pipeline, and any service issues outstanding with the customer. We use cutting-edge technologies to manage BMC's infrastructure and showcase it to the customers - program is called BMC on BMC!
BMC is looking for a System Administrator to join our amazing team!
Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols such as BGP and EIGRP.
- Manage and maintain switching technologies, including STP, VLAN, and HSRP.
- Configure and support F5 LTM and GTM load balancers, including SSL certificate management.
- Perform hands-on work on Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches for deployment and troubleshooting.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Manage DNS and DHCP services and perform related configuration and troubleshooting.
- Handle user tickets and provide timely support for network-related incidents and service requests.
- Configure and support Aruba Wi-Fi infrastructure, including access points and controllers.
- Receive shipments, keep track of inventory, install hardware, perform upgrades and do routine break/fix tasks.
- In addition as part of Data Center Infrastructure management responsibilities; Audit and maintain consistent rack layouts, RMA hardware and work with systems engineers to install hardware.
- Perform installation and ensure effective layout of all tools in cabling industry as per industry practices.
- Oversee capacity planning, perform power audits and ensure appropriate supply of power to all equipment's.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network and data center related initiatives and system integrations.
- Maintain service level standards by ensuring timely responses to stakeholder requests.
- Utilize knowledge and expertise to contribute to process improvement using Change and Incident Management Tools.
- Facilitate team knowledge assimilation, maintain process and procedure documentation, and respond to audits.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills for effective global team interaction.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, handle day-to-day activities with minimal instruction, and solve problems of diverse scope requiring thorough data evaluation.
- Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, using skills and experience to identify and resolve a wide range of issues practically and creatively.
- Assess and communicate risks based on complexity, resource availability, and timeline constraints.
To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3-5 years of professional experience as a Network Engineer, Data Center administrator or in a similar role.
- Routing and Switching fundamentals, knowledge of BGP, EIGRP, STP, VLAN, HSRP.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise hardware Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches,
- Basic understanding of F5 LTM/GTM and SSL certificate management.
- Strong network troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of DNS and DHCP administration.
- Experience in managing Aruba Wi-Fi environments.
- Exposure and willingness to learn and support Data Center infrastructure management responsibilities including Power & cooling, Hardware rack and stack. structured cabling and best practices.
- Familiarity with IT service management tools and handling user tickets (e.g. Helix ITSM, etc.)
- Willingness to work in rotational shift and on-call over weekends and off business hours.
- Experience with troubleshooting hardware with OEMs like HP, Cisco, Dell EMC, IBM, Hitachi, etc.
- Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
- Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.
- Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of enterprise network experience in technical execution, operational reliability and foundational design exposure.
- Willingness to work in global support hours rotational shift (24x5) and be available on-call.

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits. At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,975 - $126,625
