This Position reports to:

IT Senior Manager Manufacturing Systems

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is onsite/hybrid in Cary, NC or Memphis, TN.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Extract, clean, and analyze large datasets from our Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Develop and train machine learning models to identify consolidation opportunities
  • Apply AI techniques (clustering, classification, optimization algorithms) to shipment data
  • Create intelligent recommendation systems for operators
  • Build dashboards and visualizations to present AI-driven insights
  • Validate model accuracy and refine algorithms based on operational feedback
  • Propose actionable AI-enhanced consolidation strategies
  • Document methodology, models, and results
  • Present findings and AI solutions to management and operational teams
  • Travel to distribution centers to understand operational constraints and validate AI solutions

Qualifications for the role:

  • Currently enrolled in a master's( preferred) or bachelor's degree program in Data Science, AI/Machine Learning, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related fields, in the United States.
  • Must have knowledge in AI, algorithms, and Python programming
  • Must have expereince with data analysis and SQL
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorshipnow and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.

The hourly rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications, graduation year and experience. This position is expected to pay between $20 - $34 per hour.
