The appointment is for 35% of time

Position description

The UCI Department of Orthopaedic Surgery anticipates openings for a Junior Specialist position in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, School of Medicine, at the University of California, Irvine. We are seeking qualified individuals who are excellent in clinical and translational research. The position will be offered in the Specialist Series at the Junior Specialist level. The position is for 35% of appointment.

This position within the UCI Department of Orthopaedic Surgery offers a one-year opportunity for exceptional third and fourth-year US medical students interested in orthopaedic surgery. The research fellow can expect to participate in 10-20 research projects, which include but are not limited to clinical and basic science research in orthopaedic sports medicine, trauma, and arthroplasty. Abstract presentations at national and regional meetings will be supported. Ultimately, publication of the research work in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals will be expected. 10% of UCI orthopaedic faculty will provide mentorship for the residency application process as well as a career in orthopaedic surgery
