Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Senior Environmental Engineer, Sustainability & Environmental Data The Senior Environmental Engineer, Sustainability & Environmental Data is a key role within the Sustainability team, responsible for overseeing critical environmental data systems, providing subject matter expertise on greenhouse gas (GHG) tracking and reporting, and supporting enterprise-wide decision making through data-driven insights.

This role serves as a trusted internal advisor across the business, leveraging deep institutional knowledge of Company data to support initiatives such as M&A, operational strategy, commercial team initiatives, and long-term sustainability planning.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Helps to shape, manage and execute the organization's sustainability strategy
  • Contributes to goal setting, initiative prioritization, and performance tracking across sustainability focus areas
  • Collaborates closely with the core Sustainability team to drive continuous improvement and measurable impact
  • Provides guidance to various internal departments in the furtherance of achieving sustainability goals
  • Communicates complex data and sustainability concepts clearly to senior leadership and other stakeholders
  • In interim, maintains strategic ownership and governance of the Company's waste allocation tool, ensuring accuracy, consistency and alignment with business and regulatory requirements, including making recommendations to enhance operational efficiency
  • Works closely with the Director, Integrated Business Planning to oversee enhancements, data quality controls, and methodological updates related to waste tracking and allocation
  • Serves as the Company's subject matter expert on GHG emissions measurement, tracking and reporting
  • Leads the preparation, review and interpretation of GHG inventories across applicable scopes
  • Supports internal and external reporting needs, including regulatory disclosures, voluntary frameworks and stakeholder requests
  • Stays updated on evolving GHG accounting standards and sustainability reporting requirements, advising the business on implications and best practices
  • Acts as a key internal resource for cross-functional teams by translating environmental and operational data into actionable insights
  • Supports strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions by providing environmental data analysis, scenario modeling, and risk/opportunity assessments
  • Partners with Finance, Operations, Legal and other teams to ensure environmental data is effectively integrated into business decision-making
  • Builds strong working relationships internally across the organization, and also externally in the sector, serving as a trusted expert and collaborator
  • Supports the growth and maturation of the Sustainability function as the team expands
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education

- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, data analytics or related field (required)
- Advanced degree (preferred)


Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in environmental data management, sustainability reporting or related area (required)
  • Previous experience working in or with environmental services, waste management, or similar operationally complex industries (preferred)
