Horizon BCBS seeks a self-directed Intern with a passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. As part of the Business Process Improvement team, the intern will be responsible for supporting project intake and process improvement activities across the various business functions of Horizon. This could include providing project analytical support such as data analysis, collection of business process performance data, process mapping, time motion studies towards workforce management models, business case development and ROI modeling. This is an individual with a strong process improvement mindset, exceptional data analytical skills, and the ability to succeed in team environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and execution of business projects
  • Provide support to Process Engineers and Business partners towards pre-initiative process/benefit analyses
  • Aid creation of high-level and detailed business cases
  • Utilize appropriate Lean Six Sigma tools to help ensure project deliverables are met with high quality and in a timely manner
  • Participate in presentations of project updates and outcomes to various levels of management
  • Demonstrate strong relationship building and collaboration skills with team members and business partners.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business Administration/Management, Business & Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology and Project Management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare industry, process mapping and exposure to Lean Six Sigma
  • Soft Skills include: Analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong verbal and written communications; and is willing to learn and is motivated
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio as well as Minitab preferred

    Location: 3 Penn Plaza Newark NJ - Hybrid Work Schedule

    Schedule: 8am-5pm (9 hour work day with lunch)

    Duration: 11 week Summer Internship Program (June 1, 2026 - August 13, 2026)
