Affordable Housing Operations Specialist

The YMCA is a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a detail-oriented Affordable Housing Operations Specialist to support the administrative, financial, and regulatory operations of our housing programs across the North Shore.

This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate records, regulatory compliance, and operational consistency while partnering closely with Housing leadership, Finance, and external agencies.


Position Summary

The Affordable Housing Operations Specialist supports day-to-day housing operations by maintaining resident and financial records, coordinating compliance and reporting requirements, and assisting with audits and monitoring activities.


Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Billing


  • Maintain accurate and confidential resident and financial records



  • Collect rents, process deposits, and ensure timely system entry



  • Support billing and annual rent increases in compliance with regulations



  • Assist with delinquency and legal documentation as needed




Compliance, Reporting & File Management


  • Prepare and submit required housing reports (monthly, quarterly, annual)



  • Maintain Department of Mental Health (DMH) documentation and records



  • Process move-ins and annual recertifications in compliance with regulations



  • Coordinate audits, inspections, and file reviews



  • Maintain audit-ready resident files




Administrative & Operational Support


  • Prepare reports and documentation for Housing leadership



  • Track compliance deadlines and reporting cycles



  • Serve as a resource to housing staff on documentation and billing processes



  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and financial information



  • Support data integrity and documentation standards across housing operations

Qualifications
Qualifications


  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience



  • Experience in affordable housing, property management, or housing compliance preferred



  • Knowledge of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs and local housing regulations a plus



  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word



  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds



  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills



  • Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation
