WPAFB - Pipefitter

Primary Function

The Pipefitter installs or repairs water, steam, gas or other types of pipes and pipefitting.

Essential Duties

• Laying out work and measuring to locate position of pipe from drawings or other written specifications

• Cutting various sizes of pipe to correct lengths with chisel and hammer, oxyacetylene torch or pipe cutting machines

• Threading pipe with stocks and dies

• Bending pipe by hand-driven or power-driven machines

• Assembling pipe with couplings and fastening pipe to hangers

• Making standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow and size of pipe required

• Making standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications.

• Ability to work as a team player while working cohesively with all levels of clients, customers, and others to ensure contract success

• Able to work independently, analyze situations, and make decisions with minimal supervision

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Five (5) years of commercial/industrial experience.

• Documented completion of a registered apprenticeship program for pipefitter.

• Maintain a current American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welder (CW) certification.

• Accredited welding school training certificate

• Previous military / government Logistics experience preferred, but not required.

• Ability to maintain a government security clearance.

• Ability to pass background and drug screening.

Working Environment

This is an on-site, fast-paced multi-tasking customer service-oriented environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Adaptability regarding schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate changing priorities.This position is normally 5 days a week M-F. However, weekends and after hour support may be required.
