Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. is a market leader in designing, manufacturing, and marketing Frequency Control, Sensor, and Hybrid Product solutions using the latest cutting-edge techniques. For over 70 years, the Mount Holly Springs facility has provided solutions for Satellite Constellations, Deep Space Exploration Missions, Military Systems, GPS, Communication Networks, and much more.

This is an entry-level, hands-on technician role ideal for recent graduates of Associate's degree programs in electronics, engineering technology, or related technical fields. The engineering technician will provide hands-on support for PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and systems assembly manufacturing. This role focuses on equipment setup, troubleshooting, programming, and test support to maintain production flow, product quality, and equipment uptime.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, program, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing and test equipment

  • Diagnose and resolve equipment, test, and assembly issues on the production floor

  • Support PCBA and system-level assembly and test operations

  • Assist with debugging test failures and identifying root causes for hardware or process-related issues

  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on manufacturing and test equipment

  • Support fixture and tooling setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting

  • Collect production and test data and report issues, trends, or abnormalities

  • Assist engineers with equipment bring-up, test development, and validation activities

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds by assisting with prototype assembly, test, and debug

  • Train and support production operators on equipment operation, test procedures, and best practices

  • Participate in safety, quality, and 6S activities to maintain an organized and efficient work environment

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field

  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills with electrical, mechanical, or automated systems

  • Experience or familiarity with programming or configuring test equipment, PLCs, or automated systems

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical documentation

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with operators, technicians, and engineers

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting PCBA manufacturing or electronics test operations

  • Familiarity with automated test systems, functional test, or in-circuit test

  • Experience troubleshooting sensors, motors, actuators, and industrial controls

  • Basic scripting or programming experience (LabVIEW, Python, PLC ladder logic, or similar)

  • Experience performing equipment maintenance or calibration

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts

  • Basic CAD experience (SolidWorks or similar)
