This Machinist supports Aero shop and Machine shop in running large CNC/Manual lathes, CNC/Manual VTL's, and CNC/Manual Mills, holding tight tolerances meeting OEM requirements and specifications. Read and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements for the Gas turbine, Steam turbine, and Aero components.

As a Mechinist V, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting safety culture and driving a safe to start mindset

  • Aligning gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.

  • Programming CNC lathes, VTL's, and milling machines

  • Reading and interpreting documents such as OEM drawings, REI's, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers.

  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T). Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.

  • Calculating and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

  • Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance
    machining and adjusts machine controls as required.

  • Selecting, aligning, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Have a 10+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrate advanced / expert skill level (indicate part, turn OD's, turn ID's, Grinding and Burnishing on; CNC mill, CNC lathe, and NC (figure feed rates), Manual mill, Manual lathe and Manual VTL

  • Have a Supporting Aero and Machine shop based on customer needs. Cases, Gas components, Aero components, and Value rack repairs.

  • Have an ability to operate Manual machines as well as CNC machines

  • Have an Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus.
