Job Summary

The Senior Cost Accounting Analyst plays a vital and highly impactful role at Acentra Health, contributing directly to the organization's financial integrity and mission-driven success. This position is responsible for performing advanced cost accounting activities that support compliant financial reporting, government contract requirements, and strategic internal decision-making.

In this role, the Senior Analyst serves as a key subject matter expert in cost accounting, leading efforts related to cost pool reconciliations, incurred cost submissions, indirect rate development, and the identification and review of unallowable costs. The position also plays an integral role in supporting internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and promoting cost accounting compliance and best practices across the organization. Job Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed cost pool reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency between the general ledger, cost accounting systems, and supporting schedules.

  • Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS) in compliance with applicable federal regulations and contractual requirements.

  • Ensure adherence to the company's Disclosure Statement by performing internal compliance reviews and audits.

  • Develop, analyze, and monitor indirect cost rates, including forecasts, provisional rates, and final rate calculations.

  • Identify, review, and document unallowable costs in accordance with FAR, CAS, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Support internal, external, and government audits by preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and providing required documentation.

  • Analyze cost trends and variances, delivering actionable insights and recommendations to management.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with company policies, federal regulations, and applicable accounting standards.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, contracts, and operational teams to resolve cost accounting issues and enhance processes.

  • Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and the documentation of cost accounting policies and procedures.

  • Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise on cost accounting matters, as needed.

  • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies, including those related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.

  • The list of accountabilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other education- and experience-related duties that management may deem necessary from time to time.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a master's degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in cost accounting, ideally within a government contracting or highly regulated environment.

  • Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and indirect cost structures.

  • Hands-on experience with incurred cost submissions, indirect rate development, and audit support.

  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and financial systems; experience with cost accounting or ERP systems strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial and regulatory concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience developing, documenting, and maintaining cost accounting policies and procedures to support compliance and best practices.

Compensation

The compensation for this role is $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 annual base salary.

Based on our compensation program, an applicant's position placement in the pay range will depend on various considerations, such as years of applicable experience and skill level.
