Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

In this role, you will help in the design and implementation of compliance governance elements to support proper use of AI, and other existing technologies across the bank. This role will help establish clear governance structures and guidelines, empowering the first line of defense to adopt these technologies responsibly while mitigating risks. You may help collaborate with stakeholders to provide training, tools, and ongoing support, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations for all technologies in use. Additionally, the lead will help monitor trends, proactively identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement to maintain organizational integrity and trust.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Compliance Frameworks: Help design, maintain and implement compliance frameworks for proper use of AI and other technologies across RBC.
  • Governance Structures: Help establish clear governance structures and guidelines to empower the first line of defense (e.g., business units, technology teams) in adopting technologies responsibly.
  • Risk Mitigation: Support the identification and mitigation of risks associated with technology adoption, ensuring alignment with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Support: Provide training, tools, and ongoing support to teammates, stakeholders and 1LOD employees to ensure adherence to compliance standards for all technologies.
  • Monitor Trends: Stay updated on emerging technological and compliance trends to proactively address potential gaps and challenges.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance compliance processes and maintain organizational integrity.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including 1LOD, Legal, Risk, and Technology, to ensure cohesive compliance strategies.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of policies related to technology use
  • Audit and Reporting: Support audits and reporting processes to demonstrate compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to foster a culture of compliance and accountability across RBC
  • Ad Hoc Initiatives

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, leveraging creativity, and employing unconventional approaches to solve complex problems.
  • Strong aptitude for developing / revising governance elements
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to drive compliance initiatives, influence stakeholders, and foster innovation within the compliance function.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and senior management.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with discipline in managing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of banking regulations and experience with regulatory examinations and audits.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts/models/products and other information systems technology
  • Experience in process improvement and implementing effective controls and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes for data analysis and automation, including testing, validation, and verification.
  • Experience with cloud-based services, such as AWS or Google Cloud, and containerization technologies.
  • Proficiency in Archer or similar GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) platforms, with experience in configuration, customization, and administration is a plus.

For Los Angeles, CA: The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $99,000 - $176,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
