Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Outside Sales Equine Specialist for our California territory. This is a remote position that requires travel. Candidate must reside in California.

Job Summary:

Maintain and grow sales of equine veterinary supplies to equine hospitals, equine boarding facility arenas and horse tracks assigned to representative in a set geographic area. This role collaborates with Inside Sales Representatives to maximize sales. This position is located within the state of California.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plan calls ahead of time including monthly organization of ipad, distribution of literature packets, analysis of sales calls for each clinic, send out advance notice cards, stay current with sales promotions, new products, email, mail, and industry trends.
  • Make sales calls to Equine veterinary clinics, tracks, universities, and research facilities within assigned territory. Sell Equine veterinary products, Midwest Equine Business Solutions and provide market information to clinics assigned to you (approximately 75 to 90 accounts that are Equine only.) Assist in growth of equine businesses throughout the Region by working with ISR's and OSR's, educational and marketing programs. Up to 35 to 40% travel is required.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with Equine vendor representatives in assigned geographic area. A minimum of once a quarter ride with the respective companies; BI, Clipper, Merial, Merck, and Zoetis.
  • Attend educational meetings which include Equine vendor-sponsored veterinary meetings, Equine industry trade shows, regional and national Midwest Veterinary Supply meeting, and vendor educational training including conference calls and Webex training.
  • Assist in growth of equine businesses throughout the Region. Work with ISR's, ride with OSR's, within the region. Increase the reps education, market awareness, and manufacture programs. Participate in corporate initiative requests to assist in the development of increasing equine presence within MVS. This will include working directly with the Equine Business Unit Director, Regional Manager and National Sales Manager. Respond to all Management approved vendor requests for territory including surveys, territory analysis, etc. Manage and submit expense account to corporate within a two week time frame. Territory reporting as requested.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • A High School Diploma or equivalency is required.
  • A four year college degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years experience within the equine veterinary industry in a field sale role is required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Superior listening and verbal communication skills including the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and professional sales techniques
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work accurately with highly detailed information
  • Basic computer skills to include data entry
  • Must be self-motivated, hard working, and have Microsoft Office skills.
  • Must have valid drivers license, working vehicle.

  • Must be able to fly to vendor training and National Sales meetings.

Equipment Used:

Regularly uses typical office equipment including computer keyboard and terminal, ipad, telephone, fax and copier, along with vehicle for sales calls.

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed from clinic to clinic. Driving is a substantial part of the job.
