DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, this position will support the analysis of data from research studies. The incumbent will assist the Principal Investigator (PI), trainees, and technicians in conducting experiments, performing routine analyses, maintaining laboratory records, and database maintenance. Additionally, this position contributes to patient data collection and analysis by leveraging knowledge in computer vision and machine learning to process and assist with interpreting retinal imaging data, directly supporting research on retinal disease. Under supervision, programming skills in Python and MATLAB will be utilized to manage and assist in analyzing experimental data, ensuring accurate and efficient database maintenance and documentation of laboratory results. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Theoretical knowledge of cell/molecular biology, biochemistry and/or other demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience programming in Python and MATLAB.

  • Experience in utilizing machine learning to aid the analysis of large, complicated data sets.

  • Proficient with MS Windows suite and databases with an ability to work with a variety of computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop) and with a willingness and ability to increase skills and knowledge as needed.

  • Ability in keeping organized, accurate lab records and computer files.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Postgraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

  • Knowledge of working with clinical datasets.

  • Familiarity with clinical imaging and analysis.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $58,151 - $69,363 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.85 - $33.22

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
