The Opportunity:

The Senior Product Manager, Data Governance in Data, Analytics, and AI is responsible for driving the development and implementation of data standards and governance frameworks that ensure the integrity, quality, effectiveness, compliance, and responsible use of data across the organization. In partnership with cross-functional stakeholders, this role leads the establishment, execution, and continuous improvement of data governance policies and procedures, and the product roadmap of scalable technical solutions for data governance.

  • Operationalize Strategy: Execute data governance frameworks and strategies that align with business goals to support AI/ML initiatives and self-service analytics.

  • Lead Governance Forums: Drive the day-to-day operations of governance committees to standardize data definitions, access policies, and cross-functional engagement.

  • Manage Data Assets: Oversee the enterprise data catalog to improve data discoverability, tracking ownership and usage to ensure accountability across the organization.

  • Enforce Quality & Standards: Implement data quality monitoring systems and enforce standards for accuracy, consistency, and lineage across all core data assets.

  • Regulatory & Access Oversight: Manage compliance with privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR) and implement access controls, including RBAC and data masking protocols.

  • Execute Technical Roadmaps: Support the delivery of automated governance solutions, such as automated quality checks and "policy-as-code" enforcement.

  • Champion Data Literacy: Partner with cross-functional teams to embed governance into workflows while delivering training and programs to improve company-wide data literacy.

Who You Are:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, with at least 3 years in the pharma industry.

  • You have practical experience utilizing industry-standard data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra or Atlan) to manage data assets and catalogs.

  • You have proven ability to define and execute data governance policies and operations, successfully balancing regulatory compliance with business agility.

  • You have demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders to align on governance standards and strategic goals.

  • You have strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive organizational adoption in fast-paced environments.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience (e.g., MBA or related graduate-level qualification).

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams within commercial, medical, and market access functions in the Pharma industry.

  • Experience in design, develop and implement technical solutions for data governance.

  • Experience in agile development methodologies and experience in implementing them in data governance processes.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, Data Quality and Governance Certifications).

This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and offers a hybrid schedule working 3 days on campus

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location in California is $140,300 - $260,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
