About This Role

The IT Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure for a large university, with a primary focus on AWS technologies. This role involves developing strategic roadmaps, ensuring secure and scalable architectures, and implementing microsegmentation strategies with Guardicore. The IT Architect collaborates with IT leadership, security teams, and application development groups to ensure the university's IT infrastructure aligns with organizational goals and industry best practices.

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and nine years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in IT architecture, cloud computing, or enterprise infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in AWS services, architectures, and cloud security best practices.
  • Experience with Guardicore or similar microsegmentation tools.
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform).
  • Strong knowledge of networking, security, and identity managements.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or similar certification.
  • Experience in a higher education IT environment.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS).
  • Familiarity with VMware, Active Directory, and enterprise networking.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
