About This Role

The Microsoft 365 Engineer plays a central role in enhancing the university's cloud collaboration and productivity environment by deploying, configuring, and optimizing Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, and Entra ID. The position supports the university's hybrid identity strategy through the integration of onpremises and cloud identity systems, ensuring seamless authentication and consistent user experiences across platforms. Emphasis is placed on strengthening Microsoft 365 security and compliance through the application of Conditional Access, MFA, DLP, Purview, Information Protection, and related capabilities while resolving complex issues involving Microsoft 365 workloads, identity, and hybrid configurations. The role also contributes to institutional resilience by assisting with disaster recovery and business continuity planning for Microsoft 365 services and by maintaining documentation and governance standards that promote stability and alignment with institutional objectives. Collaboration with academic, administrative, and research units ensures that Microsoft 365 solutions effectively support teaching, learning, and operational needs across the university.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and six years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID).
  • Strong familiarity with hybrid identity environments, including Azure AD/Entra ID, Conditional Access, and MFA.
  • Handson experience with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
  • Solid understanding of hybrid cloud concepts (Azure, AWS, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and nontechnical teams.
  • Ability to produce documentation, follow governance standards, and support bestpractice adoption.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft 365 security, compliance, DLP, and Purview technologies.
  • Experience with infrastructureascode (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar).
  • Previous experience supporting enterprisescale hybrid cloud environments.
  • Background in disaster recovery planning and business continuity for Microsoft 365 services.
  • Experience contributing to cloud governance, policy development, or architectural standards.
  • Exposure to automation platforms (Azure Automation, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse user groups and stakeholder communities.
