Location: This is a hybrid (onsite/virtual) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and the headquarter is One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, Michigan.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Budget & Planning Analyst provides financial support to the business by assisting with the oversight of spending to ensure that funds are allocated appropriately and used according to plan. Support includes, but is not limited to, lowcomplexity cost accounting activities (including journal entries and managing loadings and allocations), regulatory filing support, risk and opportunity coordination, forecast and budget development, variance analysis, work order creation, reconciliation, and closeout, preparation of financial reports and statements, financial master data management, invoice review, and cash flow management (including timely analysis and reconciliations). The incumbent will provide analysis and modeling support for project and program managers, business development, and business area directors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


* Assist in the development of the budget and longterm financial plan by providing data and evidencebased analysis and incorporating the work plan into financial models; consolidate organizational budgets for review, and prepare reports and presentations
* Assist with lowcomplexity data analysis for regulatory filings by gathering and organizing government, regulatory, and compliance data; prepare materials for leadership review for rate filings; create and support exhibits; and conduct reporting for documents used in rate responses
* Review and audit general ledger (G/L) and work order activity to ensure all activity is properly recorded in accordance with financial policies and procedures, including O&M versus capital classification
* Assist with the building, maintenance, and troubleshooting of moderate to complexlevel Excel financial models; document processes and procedures; recommend process improvements; and manage and maintain financial master data
* Assist in the preparation of lowcomplexity financial and compliance reports, including financial statements and budget performance reports, monthly budgettoforecasttoactual variance reports, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, and other regulatory compliance reports
* Work with Project Managers and Department Leads to optimize spending and operational efficiencies across all projects and work efforts, ensuring adherence to work order workflow and management processes
* Review and understand cost structures, including contract terms and cost workflows, and contribute effectively to job setup and closeout processes
* Assist with data and financial analysis in support of external and internal customer requirements and audit requests; review work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards
* Assist with the delivery of reliable and precise execution of daytoday business operations responsibilities, including cost accounting activities (journal entries, overhead management, and allocations), forecast development, variance analysis, risk and opportunity coordination, and cash flow management (including timely analysis and reconciliations)

* Other duties as assigned or as necessary

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

* Knowledge of economics, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial markets, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
* Proficiency with financial management and analysis software (e.g., SAP, Business Intelligence tools, Power BI)
* Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data
* Ability to present data clearly and concisely
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong analytical ability, including the ability to quickly and effectively analyze, compare, and interpret data, as well as strong problemsolving skills
* High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, with an emphasis on Excel

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline

(OR) Associate's degree with two (2) years of knowledge of or exposure to budget and planning activities

(OR) High School Diploma/ GED with four (4) years of knowledge of or exposure to budget and planning activities
