Job Summary:
The Department Administrator is the senior administrative position in a department within the Feinberg School of Medicine (FSM) and provides thought leadership in reviewing and recommending policy and procedure designed to enhance operational excellence. Ensures the effective, compliant, and efficient daily management of all operational, financial, and business functions in support of the business area's mission and in coordination with central offices, including but not limited to HR, Budget, Facilities, IT, and Faculty Affairs. Represents department in all operational activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Supports faculty and staff recruiting, interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, mentoring, developing, promoting, discipline, termination, record management (including Visa requirements and reappointment schedules), etc.
- Recommends ideas to increase efficiencies, ensure consistent administration, and compliance.
- Ensures that all procedures and practices adhere to associated basic science department budget.
- Ensures human resources programs, policies, & procedures are implemented & consistently applied.
- In consultation with management, may administer employee relations solutions.
- Maintains excellent working relationship with Office of Human Resources.
- Supports day-to-day unit operations, including program and/or educational support, facilities management, IT liaison and compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
- Bachelor's in business, accounting or a related field + 1 yr administrative experience including budgets, finance, grants, facilities, and/or human resources; or 3 yrs administrative experience.
Target hiring range for this position will between $110,260 - $155,055 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
