Alternative Solutions Group is a newly established team within Munich Re Life US, dedicated to delivering innovative, customized reinsurance solutions for U.S. Life & Health clients. Our mandate is to address unique and complex needs through creative structures that may include biometric and financial reinsurance, third-party capital, asset management partnerships, and other novel approaches.

In this highly visible role, you will partner with clients to originate and execute sophisticated reinsurance transactions. Responsibilities include structuring, pricing, and negotiating deals, as well as collaborating with local and global leadership to secure approvals. Additionally, you will support the Head of Alternative Solutions in managing the P&L of existing portfolios, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability

Responsibilities

Deal structuring and execution:

  • Lead the end-to-end reinsurance transaction process, including due diligence, valuation, financial modeling, negotiation, and integration planning.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (legal, actuarial, finance, operations) to ensure seamless execution and post-deal integration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and external advisors throughout the deal lifecycle.
  • Prepare transaction approval materials and communicate effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with legal team in drafting and reviewing regulatory submissions and responses.

Financial management:

  • Collaborate with asset managers to develop, maintain, and enhance the Asset-Liability Management (ALM) framework
  • Create and optimize capital structures, leveraging knowledge of economic capital and regulatory frameworks (primarily U.S., Bermuda, and SII).
  • Develop financial projections to support leadership in planning and decision making.

Strategic Planning & Growth:

  • Monitor industry trends, evaluate competitive dynamics, and identify opportunities for strategic growth.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of acquisition targets and strategic partnerships.
  • Partner with senior leadership to define growth priorities and execute key strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in life M&A, sidecar, block reinsurance, or corporate development required.
  • Experience in life insurance ALM or investment management preferred.
  • Experience in direct and/or reinsurance pricing preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as business dictates

For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $264,560 to $306,332, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
