The Sr. Manager, Conferencing Technologies will provide leadership and oversight of BioMarin's conference rooms and related technologies, and is based at the Corporate HQ in San Rafael, CA.

The Sr. Manager, Conferencing Technologies will have a hybrid team of full-time and contract personnel and will be responsible for these technologies and services in a global capacity.

The Sr. Manager, Conferencing Technologies is responsible not just for keeping conference rooms running, but for ensuring that meeting technologies align with business needs, scale globally, and deliver a seamless experience for employees and executives.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Technology & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee audio-visual systems (displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras).
  • Manage video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, Webex, etc.) and ensure interoperability.
  • Ensure network readiness (bandwidth, QoS, security) for high-quality calls.
  • Standardize room setups across offices for consistency and ease of use.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging collaboration technologies (AI transcription, smart whiteboards, room sensors, digital signs).

Operations & Maintenance

  • Develop and enforce preventive maintenance schedules for AV equipment.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to minimize meeting disruptions.
  • Maintain an inventory of conferencing equipment and manage lifecycle replacements.
  • Coordinate with vendors for support contracts, upgrades, and repairs.

User Experience & Support

  • Provide training and documentation so employees can confidently use the technology.
  • Offer live support for high-stakes meetings (executive briefings, board meetings, investor calls).
  • Gather feedback from users to improve room usability and reliability.
  • Ensure accessibility features are available (captioning, assistive listening devices).

Governance & Compliance

  • Define standards and policies for conferencing technology use.
  • Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations (especially for recorded meetings).
  • Maintain audit trails for system changes and usage where required.
  • Align conferencing solutions with corporate IT governance and cybersecurity frameworks.

Strategic & Financial Oversight

  • Manage the budget for conferencing technologies (hardware, software, licensing, support).
  • Negotiate with vendors for enterprise-level contracts.
  • Track ROI and utilization metrics to justify investments.
  • Plan for scalability as the company grows or adopts hybrid work models.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with IT, Facilities, HR, and Security to ensure seamless integration of room technologies.
  • Lead a team of AV/IT specialists or coordinate with external service providers.
  • Stay current with industry trends (e.g., Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, AI-driven meeting assistants).
  • Act as the executive liaison for conferencing technology strategy.

The salary range for this position is: $132,800 to $182,600. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
