Welder / Fabricator

Job Description:

The Welder/Fabricator will be responsible for the repair, modification, and custom fabrication of food processing equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with GTAW (TIG) welding on stainless steel and a deep understanding of sanitary design standards to ensure our facility remains compliant with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Precision Fabrication: Layout, cut, fit, and weld stainless steel components to repair or improve production lines, conveyors, and mixing vessels.
• Sanitary Welding: Perform high-quality TIG welding on thin-gauge stainless steel tubing and plate, ensuring all welds are "food-grade" (smooth, pit-free, and crevice-free).
• System Maintenance: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues involving pneumatic systems, hydraulic lifts, and motorized drive components.
• Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and CAD designs to execute custom projects from scratch.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain a clean work environment following GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ensure all fabrications meet USDA/FDA sanitary standards.
• Emergency Repairs: Support the production team with rapid-response welding during equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred.

Experience: 3-5+ years of welding/fabrication experience, preferably in a food, beverage, or pharmaceutical environment.

Technical Mastery: Expert proficiency in TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding on 304 and 316 stainless steel.

Sanitary Knowledge: Understanding of "clean-in-place" (CIP) requirements and how fabrication impacts food safety.

Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the use of plasma cutters, grinders, band saws, brake presses, and lathes.

Physical Stamina: Ability to work in varied environments (cold storage or hot processing areas) and lift up to 50 lbs.
