Data Scientist I

Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position:



  • Applies statistics and data science methods to develop insights, prototypes, and decision-support analyses that improve CPE-STRI program performance and modernization outcomes as well as supporting Agile Solution Implementation for providing proactive metrics analysis (e.g. Velocity and Capacity Forecasting)
  • Works with senior data scientists and engineers to prepare data, run experiments, and communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Key Responsibilities include:

    • Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and baseline model development.
    • Develop reproducible notebooks/scripts and document assumptions, methods, and results.
    • Support model validation, bias checks, and monitoring plans.
    • Collaborate with engineers to transition prototypes into deployable pipelines where appropriate.





Requirements (Years of experience, Education, Certifications):



  • 5 years of experience with BA/BS (or equivalent).
  • Experience with Python/R and common statistical/ML libraries; comfortable communicating analytic results.
  • Familiarity with data ethics, validation, and reproducibility practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Active SECRET strongly desired; ability to obtain and maintain SECRET (or higher) required. Task-order DD254 may require higher clearance (e.g., TS/SCI).



Nice to Have (skills that are not required, but nice to have):



  • Exposure to operational datasets and performance metrics in DoD or large enterprise contexts
  • Experience with visualization tools to communicate results
  • Experience working with protected data and RBAC
