Maintenance Technician Opportunity

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

The Maintenance Technician performs duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the facility in good repair. Performs minor electrical work, mechanical repairs, floor care and other duties as assigned. Conducts environmental rounds, maintains records and identifies open issues. Monitors and assists contracted service providers performing work in the facility.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment, systems, and physical structures of the facility and comply with all building safety codes. Maintain electrical wiring and emergency generator systems. Perform routine cleaning of A-C cents, water fountains, sprinkler heads, water filters, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, floors, ice machine and kitchen appliances as required. Maintain routine records of all inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system. Maintain OSHA related forms and systems including SDS sheets. Maintain inventory and supplies.
  • Perform urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required. Replace, install, repair and test electrical circuits, equipment, appliances and lighting systems as required.
  • Perform manual duties as requested (i.e., moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material).
  • Maintain the security of supplies on tool cart to prevent patients from inappropriately acquiring items that could provide a threat to themselves or others. Immediately reports missing items to nursing staff.
  • Assist outside contractors and vendors during maintenance or installation procedures; serve as resource on physical plant and procedures.
  • Clean and maintain floors using floor cleaning equipment. May perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, etc. in a clean, neat and sanitary manner as needed.
  • Assist Director of Plant Operations with employee education on pertinent facility safety protocols including fire safety, right to know, fall prevention and other related topics. Conduct drills and surveys that assure compliance with employee safety education.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational/Technical school preferred.
  • 1+ years related experience in mechanical or technical field with hands-on experience in maintenance, equipment repair and/or construction required.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment. Detail oriented and able to multi-task and change directions quickly. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to adjust personal schedule to accommodate the needs of the facility. 24-hour on-call status as scheduled.
