The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for an Electronic Technician C - Range Network to support our government customer located in Kekaha, Kauai.

Independently or under supervision is able to troubleshoot, repair, inspect, overhaul, modify, calibrate, install, operate and perform other related tasks on Information Technology (IT) systems or equipment within the PMRF Area of Operations.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines. Documents results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics and flow charts and using simple and complex test equipment.
  • Installs, checks, calibrates and performs acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment.
  • Performs basic networking operations to include log extraction, VLAN assignment, network configuration review or similar related tasks.
  • Installs, relocates and performs hardware repairs on IT equipment to include servers, workstations, networking components, Universal Power Supply (UPS), scanners, Printers & other related peripheral equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic level interoperability problems across a variety of IT platforms, LAN network software and hardware.
  • May be assigned as IAT (Information Assurance Technician) duties to include STIGs and IAVM remediation.
  • Assist in documentation of IT components to include updating network drawings from logical and physical perspective.
  • Assists in preparing and developing new procedures, procedural changes and modification proposals.
  • Maintains configuration control on assigned systems to include assigned equipment inventories, classified safe inventories.
  • May be requested to perform IT Service Desk duties and Operational Support for PMRF Network Operational Center according to Departmental and Company procedures. Working hours are flexible according to Operational requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Environment:

Electronics Shop at various operating locations throughout PMRF

Office conditions are varied and includes physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds, with a two man assist. Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, sitting, or standing for extended periods of time, crawling, kneeling, or cramped working places and work requiring repeated or frequent stair climbing. Environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, a confined work area, in an office laboratory setting, with field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather.

Physical Activities:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, install and remove electronics equipment and peripherals
  • May be required to work in sub-floor areas and crawl spaces in performing maintenance inspections and troubleshoot tasks.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Years of directly related work experience may be substituted for a degree)
  • Two (2) Year Technical School or Navy "A" school with either school specializing in Basic Electricity and Electronics Systems.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the certification requirements within DOD 8570.01-M and an Operating Environment Certification commensurate with contract requirements. DOD 8570.01-M certification is mandatory before start of employment
  • One of the following OS Certifications required prior to start (subject to change based on industry, DoD, or local policy requirements)
    • Cisco CCNA Certification
    • Cisco CCNP Certification

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) years of experience in IT to include LAN hardware & software installation and maintenance is required.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, to include Windows, LINUX and comprehensive networking concepts
  • Must be able to pass a minimum skills test prior to employment
  • Possess the following PC skills: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Top Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Top Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
