As the Fleet Operations Manager, you will oversee the execution and continuous improvement of Smithfield's fleet operations strategy to ensure safety, compliance, efficiency, and reliability across all business units. You will manage daily fleet activities, drive performance initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to optimize operations and achieve company goals. This role requires strong leadership, analytical thinking, and operational expertise to deliver best-in-class fleet management solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Fleet Operations Management: Oversee the daily operational functions of Smithfield's private fleet to ensure safety, compliance, and performance excellence.

  • Driver Recruitment & Development: Partner with internal teams to recruit and retain high-quality drivers who align with Smithfield's safety and service standards.

  • Network Optimization: Analyze and evaluate fleet operations and routing networks to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency, and improved utilization.

  • Performance & Cost Management: Develop, monitor, and enforce utilization, service, and cost-saving metrics for dedicated fleet operations to ensure measurable performance outcomes.

  • Operational Excellence: Organize and execute company savings initiatives, driving consistency and alignment across all fleet operations.

  • Standardization & Best Practices: Develop and implement standard operating procedures and maintenance practices that reflect industry best practices for fleet management.

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Understand financial impacts and lead KPI development, performance tracking, and budget analysis to drive continuous improvement in fleet operations.

  • Leadership: Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee development and coaching.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • Leadership: 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership required.

  • Collaboration & Professionalism: Respectful, approachable, and team-oriented leader who builds strong working relationships and fosters a positive, inclusive work environment.

  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the ability to address challenges effectively in real time.

  • Organization & Attention to Detail: Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Planning & Execution: Proven ability to develop and execute operational plans with strong project management and time management skills.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities.
