The Lead Electrical Designer participates in a team environment consisting of engineers and designers to produce construction documents for the following systems: power, lighting, controls, grounding, and the like.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Develops electrical construction documents using architectural background layouts and system performance requirements defined by the project team including the architect, engineer and project manager
- Coordinates with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering/ internal and external)
- Participate in pre-design project activities, such as site assessment, site plan review, and verification of as built conditions
- Works with project team to find optimum system sizing, routing, materials, and space management for equipment and electrical distribution systems
- Performs equipment selection research and develop recommendations
- Participates in Services during Construction, including responding to RFIs, shop drawing and submittal review, site observation, preparation of field-issued sketches, participation in construction meetings, and preparation of preliminary and final punch lists, and as-built drawings
- Executes work within approved budgets, develop progress reports, and interface with clients and others
- Develops projects in compliance with engineering codes, standards, principles, relevant specifications and contractual requirements
- Produces construction documents and calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and coordinate with other disciplines
- Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
- Supports business development activities, including preparation of materials for qualifications, proposals, and interviews
- Performs technical tasks using applicable standards, procedures and codes
- Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others
- Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts
- Mentors interns and junior members of project teams
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree with technical focus preferred
- 8+ years of experience
- Autodesk Building Systems Software
Preferred
- Advanced Technology experience preferred
- Experience working within a team environment
- Experience in the quality control review process
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes
