Summary

Balfour Beatty, is seeking Field Engineers for the LAX Automated People Mover (APM) project in Los Angeles, CA. The APM is an electric train system on a 2.25-mile elevated guideway with six stations total, for Los Angeles International Airport. Early works construction began in May 2018, and the system is expected to be open for passenger service in 2023. The construction portion of the contract is valued at over $2 billion.

The primary role of the Field Engineer is to support the Deputy Turnover Manager and Testing Commissioning Manager with the planning and daily execution of the project. Responsible for maintaining certain aspects of the project as assigned, by managing the process of collecting documentation to support closeout activities, observing field testing and reviewing tests.

Essential Functions



  • Review all subcontractor submittals for compliance with the contract requirements.
  • Assist in processing and administration of submittal tracking and document control.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch list, describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, materials requirement calculations, etc.
  • Supervision and observation of testing activities.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's directions.


Minimum Requirements



  • 1-4 years of experience, equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
  • B.S. in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or construction management preferred.
  • Computer knowledge of office suite programs (excel, word, PowerPoint) minimum.
  • Knowledge of CAD and Primavera a plus.


Ability to interface and effectively communicate with others
